Read
this first!:
A short tutorial turning a 4dr vehicle into a 2dr. For
finishing touches, try and think of the differences between a
4dr and a 2dr (aside from the obvious differences). Make
the door longer; keep the body almost as long; slant the door
angle, etc etc.

Here
is our 4dr family sedan. Time for a sporty coupe!
|
|
|
 |
First,
we'll use the Polygon lasso and make a selection selecting the
back half of the car trying to avoid angles and slopes of the
car. Try to cross the joints of the car at a perpendicular
angle. This helps lining up the car later
TIP:
See how the selection follows the curvature of the car somewhat
as if the car is bulging? Well guess what? It is
bulging! Try to think in 3D as the car would appear as if
you were standing there.

While
you have your selection, go "Ctrl+C" then "Ctrl+v"
to paste a new layer.
(Or use the
"Edit" menu to copy/paste)
You will now
have two layers as seen to the right --->
|
|

|
 |
Now,
either with your arrow keys or your move tool, drag your new
layer to the left and try to find a decent alignment.
|
|
|
 |
For
a smooth seam, use a soft brush eraser and erase the left edges
of the new layer you just moved (around the window and body
area).
You may not see it, but you're creating a more seamless blend.

Now
for some trickery. Make a selection using your Polygon
Lasso tool again,
and invision a roofline that would seem to follow the layer you
created. Then, use the clone stamp and grab a sampler from
the rock background, and stamp over the roof part we want to
erase.
TIP:
Try to create a selection that would follow the roof line.
A straight edge selection Isn't going to cut it.

Now
we're left with a bothersome door handle and seam. Time to
Clone Stamp those out using the Clone Stamp tool again. (realizing how
useful this tool is yet?!)
TIP:
To get rid of the handle, I personally like to copy a portion of
the body, pasting (creates a new layer), and then dragging that
portion of the body over the handle. But to each his (or
her) own.

This
is my personal rendition. Changes other than shown in the
tutorial include:
1) Longer Door
2) Door seam slanted 5°
3) Window frame moved
4) Cabin redone
5) Top of car flatten 5px.
6) Back wheel wider by 4px
Its the details
that create realism!

TIPS:
- After
the above steps, a careful eye will still notice some
discrepancies. Such as; now the wheel angle is the
slightest degree off from bringing that portion of the body
closer to the camera. The doors on a coupe are typically
longer/larger than those of a 4dr. The space in the cabin
now looks odd because it shows the cabin of a 4dr still.
The car may look stubby now. Through some of the tools
already mentioned in this tutorial, and a few others, you can
eliminate these oddities.
